Chemistry 11 Model Papers – Chapter 9 – Punjab Textbook Board

Chemistry 11 Chapter 9, Chemistry 11 Model Papers, Chemistry Chapter 9 Complete, Chemistry Chapter 9 First Half, Chemistry Chapter 9 Second Half, Chemistry Short Syllabus Test, First Half Chapter 9, Full Chapter, Half Chapter, Punjab Textbook Board, Second Half Chapter 9

DEAR TEACHERS AND STUDENTS! “Insight Model Papers for First Year Chemistry, Chapter#9” have been uploaded here. As the chapter name “Solutions” suggests, the chapter discusses in detail various properties of solutions such as concentration units of solutions like percentage composition, molarity, molality, mole fraction & parts per million etc; types of solutions such as completely miscible, partially miscible & practically immiscible solutions; difference between ideal and non-ideal solutions, Raoult’s law, vapour pressure of liquid-liquid solutions, fractional distillation of ideal solutions, azeotropic mixtures, positive and negative deviations of azeotropic mixtures from ideality, solubility and solubility curves, fractional crystallization; colligative properties like lowering of vapour pressure, elevation of boiling point & Landsburger’s method for measurement of elevation of boiling point, depression in freezing point & Beckmann’s method of measurement of depression in freeing point; energetics of solutions, hydration energy, lattice energy, enthalpy of dilution etc; hydration, hydrates, water of crystallization, hydrolysis etc. Numerical examples are given along with each article that further elaborate the topic. Along with theory articles & examples, exercise MCQs & numericals, all are included in these model papers.

Examination value of this chapter is of 11 marks. One MCQ for 1 mark, three short questions for 6 marks, and one long question for 4 marks (which is mostly a theory question) is the usual contribution of this chapter towards the board papers.

The long question from this chapter is paired with that of chapter 10 in Q. No. 9 of the subjective portion. Three short questions from this chapter are grouped together with those of chapters 1, 2 & 3 in Q. No. 2 of the subjective portion. So, while drawing your study plan, these paper dimensions must be kept in your mind.

As usual, three varieties of papers are presented in case of chapter 9. These are:

  • Half chapter tests
  • Complete chapter tests (regular syllabus)
  • Complete chapter tests (smart syllabus)

Each variety has its further specification which will be discussed in the related segment.

A. Half Chapter Tests

Here are half chapter tests for chapter 9, chemistry-11. These are arranged according to the regular syllabus. The first half chapter syllabus includes articles 9.1 to 9.4 (From concentration units of solutions to solubility and solubility curves), while second half syllabus includes articles 9.5 to 9.8 (From colligative properties to hydration, hydrates, and hydrolysis). Related numerical examples, textbook exercise numericals and MCQs are also the part of the half chapter tests.

Half chapter tests are also of 25 and 30 marks. 30 marks tests contain one additional long question and one more MCQ. The remaining portions are the same. This provides greater choice for the teacher for different level testing.

B. Full Chapter Tests

The complete chapter tests for chapter 9 are given below which are of two types; first of 30 marks and second of 40 marks. The 30 marks tests are used at the initial stage of testing while 40 marks tests are used at the advanced stages of testing. The 30 marks tests contain six MCQs, eight short qustions and two long questions. While, 40 marks tests contain eight MCQs, ten short qustions and three long questions.

C. Smart Syllabus Tests

These are complete chapter tests for chapter 9, chemistry-11, arranged according to the smart syllabus. ‘Smart Syllabus Tests’ are about 40% short in normal syllabus due to Covid-19 Pandemic. In smart syllabus, some topics from the chapter are omitted. For example, in chapter 9, topic number 9.1, 9.2, 9.4 & 9.8 are excluded from the smart syllabus.

Smart syllabus tests also include two categories; first of 25 marks and second of 30 marks. The difference between them is that 30 marks tests contain one additional MCQ and one more long question as compared to the normal syllabus.
